A traditional chip shop in Worcester is preparing to say goodbye after nearly 25 years, as it transforms into a Domino’s Pizza chain.
Owner Harry Angelides, 82, shared his sadness over the closure, revealing he never imagined the Bath Road Chippy becoming anything other than a chip shop.
After a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis and his age led him to retire, Mr Angelides attempted to sell the business to keep it as a chip shop, but unfortunately, there were no takers. Despite the bittersweet decision, he expressed his gratitude to his loyal customers and dedicated staff, who will sadly be losing their jobs.
With a career spanning 67 years in the chip shop industry, Mr Angelides had several successful ventures before settling on the Bath Road Chippy in 2000. Now, he is ready to bid farewell as the shop closes its doors on October 26th.
As he reflects on the many years of hard work and cherished memories, Mr Angelides is thankful for the support of his customers and staff. While he may shed a tear on closing day, he remains grateful for the opportunity to serve the Worcester community for so many years.
Great news for those that love Pizza in the Village, Dominos have confirmed that delivery to Kempsey will be available.
