Police have issued warnings to drivers about parking on pavements as part of a safety operation. West Mercia Police’s Safer Neighbourhood Team in Kempsey, near Worcester, cautioned at least six motorists on an estate on Friday (August 30) for what they described as “unnecessary obstruction of the highway.”
The police have made it clear that failure to comply with the warnings could result in prosecution.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police stated: “Pavements must be kept clear to allow pedestrians, pushchairs, wheelchairs, and mobility scooters to pass. Additionally, vehicles should not be parked within 10 metres of a junction.” Members of the public can also submit digital evidence of traffic violations to the police through ‘Operation Snap.’
