Jamie King sentenced for rape and sexual assault of a man

A 33-year-old thief who stole thousands from a city pub has now been convicted of rape and sexual assault against a man.

Jamie King, of Fortuna Way, Kempsey, was found guilty by a unanimous jury at Worcester Crown Court of raping and sexually assaulting a man aged 16 or over. The offences took place in March 2020, with the verdict delivered on July 12, 2024.

King was initially scheduled for sentencing in September, but the hearing was delayed due to incomplete reports.

After multiple postponements, he was sentenced on February 21. He received six years in prison for rape and two years for sexual assault, to be served concurrently.

Additionally, he is now subject to a 15-year restraining order against the victim and has been placed on the sex offenders register for life.

King had also pleaded guilty to criminal damage in June 2022, but no separate penalty was imposed for that offence.

Previously, he was convicted of stealing £3,350 from the Cardinal’s Hat pub in Friar Street, where he worked. His arrest followed an investigation after a bookkeeper noticed financial discrepancies between December 2021 and February 2022.

In December 2023, King was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court to 10 months in prison, suspended for one year. He was also ordered to repay the stolen amount in full and pay a £156 victim surcharge.

The jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts on the rape and sexual assault charges.
