Today is Friday, 9th May 2025 and its 2:35 PM

Fancy keeping an eye on the police without having to wear a badge?

Applications are now open for the role of Independent Lay Member on the West Mercia Police and Crime Panel – a vital gig for those who like holding people to account (nicely, of course).

The Panel’s job is to keep the Police and Crime Commissioner on their toes across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Worcestershire. Basically, if you’ve got a good head on your shoulders and a bit of a nose for sniffing out nonsense, this might be right up your alley.

The closing date is 5pm, Friday 16 May 2025 – so don’t dither. If you’re up for the challenge, download the application form from the Worcestershire County Council site and send it back to Samantha Morris either by email (sjmorris@worcestershire.gov.uk) or post. Tea and biscuits not guaranteed, but a say in policing definitely is.
