The Anchor Inn, Kempsey: A New Era Has Begun

Stop the presses. Call your nan. Alert the parish council. Something truly miraculous has happened down at The Anchor Inn in Kempsey… we’ve finally got a good landlady.

Yes, you heard right. After what can only be described as a period of unfortunate leadership decisions (we’re being polite here – you know who you are), the pub has been rescued from the depths of despair and is now captained by the one and only Deb.

And let us tell you – Deb doesn’t mess about. She’s come in like Mary Poppins with a pint glass, sweeping out the cobwebs, scrubbing the beer lines, and restoring order to the chaos. No more questionable food smells. No more being stared down by a bar staff member who seems personally offended that you’ve dared to ask for a drink. No more “we’re out of lager” situations. The Anchor is back, baby.

Breakfast starts at 10am, which means you can now roll out of bed on a Saturday (or Sunday, no judgement here) and stroll down for a proper fry-up that doesn’t come with a side of disappointment. Deb’s breakfasts are the kind that make you believe in second chances – for pubs, for sausages, and maybe even for yourself.

But that’s not all. She’s also rolling out a home-cooked lunch and dinner menu, and word on the street (aka Dave from darts) is that it’s “bloody lovely.” We’re talking proper pub grub – no frozen lasagnes in sight. Whether it’s steak and ale pie that could bring a tear to your eye, or a roast that makes you question whether your mum was ever really trying, Deb’s got it covered.

So if you’ve been avoiding The Anchor like it was cursed by a vengeful barmaid spirit – it’s time to come back. Bring your mates. Bring your appetite. Bring your curiosity about how someone can turn a pub around faster than you can say “who nicked my pint?”

With Deb at the helm, The Anchor’s not just floating again – it’s steering straight into delicious territory.
