We’ve been watching Facebook — and it looks like Royal Mail’s pulling a disappearing act again. Polling cards? Missing. Postie? Probably off bonding with your energy bill in the Bermuda Triangle of Undelivered Mail.
But fear not — democracy doesn’t depend on second-class post. Martin Allen has spoken directly to a Senior Election Officer at MHDC, and here’s the scoop:
You DO NOT need your polling card to vote.
It’s helpful, yes — but it’s not essential. You won’t be turned away just because your postie went walkabout.
You do need some ID.
What counts?
- Passport
- Driving Licence
- Older Person’s Bus Pass
- Blue Badge, Voter Authority Certificate, etc.(Sorry, your Greggs Rewards card still doesn’t qualify — even if you’ve earned a free sausage roll.)
So to recap: No card? No drama. Bring your ID. Vote like a legend. Let’s not let a dodgy delivery service derail democracy.
