The Environment Agency has issued an official Flood Alert for Kempsey Village, with the potential for flooding from this evening, 14 November 2025.
This alert is precautionary but important – here’s what we know so far.
Areas That May Be Affected
Flooding is possible in:
- Low-lying parts of Kempsey Village
- Squires Walk
- Land surrounding Hatfield Brook
- Areas that usually activate the Kempsey Flood Alleviation Scheme (KFAS)
The KFAS may come into operation overnight depending on river levels.
Why the Alert?
The Environment Agency is monitoring rising river levels combined with uncertain forecasts of heavy rainfall expected later today and tonight.
They have stated:
- The worst of the rain has not yet arrived
- Peak levels cannot yet be predicted
- Further updates will follow as the situation becomes clearer
This is a heads-up alert – not a confirmed flood warning – but it’s important the village is prepared.
What You Should Do Now
Please take care and consider the following:
- Avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water
- Move valuables or electrical items off the floor if you’re in a low-lying property
- Check on vulnerable or elderly neighbours
- Secure bins, garden items or anything that might float away
- Keep your phone charged in case further alerts are issued
The Environment Agency continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates if conditions change.
