Kempsey Parish, Updates

What’s going on

These last few months at Kempsey Parish Council have been busy – covering local planning, community projects, and preparations for 2026. Here’s a handy round-up of the main items discussed in the September and October 2025 meetings, and the agenda for November.

Key Decisions & Discussions

• Planning & Local Developments

The council reviewed several planning proposals from residents and developers, assessing impacts on local infrastructure, traffic and green spaces. There was robust discussion about preserving the character of older areas while accommodating new housing.

• Community Facilities & Youth Work

Kempsey is pushing forward on youth-focused and community projects. The council reaffirmed support for youth services and looked at potential funding/partnerships to deliver activities post–summer. This should offer more opportunities for younger residents across the parish.

• Infrastructure, Maintenance & Safety

Potholes, street lighting, and general maintenance — these routine but essential topics came up. The council logged reports from residents about road conditions, drainage, and signage, with plans to follow up with the district council and local highways authority.

• Preparing for 2026 — Forward Planning

With an eye on next year, the November 2025 agenda includes:

  • Reviewing the 2026 budget draft, factoring in maintenance, community services and potential new developments.
  • Updating emergency/community support plans (e.g. flood / public events / planning permission oversight).
  • Considering resident feedback on recent consultations about local services and planning issues.

What it means for you

  • Better youth and community services – if you’re a parent or involved in local groups, keep an eye out: there may be new opportunities soon.
  • Improved infrastructure – roads, pavements, lighting and drainage are on the agenda; if you’ve seen issues locally, it’s a good time to report them or check the council’s updates.
  • Planning transparency & input – as planning proposals come up, there will likely be consultations. Good chance for residents to have their say.
  • Budget and services under review – 2026 may bring changes: either improved services or budget-driven decisions. Stay informed via council communications.

What we need from you

  • Have your say: If you have concerns or suggestions (youth activities, traffic, planning, public services) – now’s a good time to contact the Parish Council.
  • Spread the word: Some of these decisions affect more than one street – tell your neighbours, especially older folks or families that may not follow online.
  • Stay updated: Check regular meeting minutes or the parish website for confirmed decisions, budgets and meeting dates.

What’s next

The November 2025 meeting is due to wrap up the budget draft for 2026 and finalise plans for community services and maintenance. Expect updates soon.
