Residents in and around Kempsey are being warned about an ongoing courier fraud scam. Fraudsters have been contacting local people, claiming to be from either the Police or their bank, in order to trick them into handing over personal information or money.
We encourage residents to remain vigilant and remember:
- Police and banks will never ask for PINs, bank passwords, or to transfer money.
- If you receive a suspicious call, text, or message — do not engage.
- If in doubt, hang up, verify independently, and report it.
This follows similar scams seen elsewhere in the region, and the warning from parish and local authorities is intended to help protect our community. Stay safe and pass the word on to neighbours who might not see this online.
