Looking back at a month of community, festive spirit, and local action

December in Kempsey was filled with seasonal cheer, community efforts, important local campaigns, and plenty of news to keep residents talking. Here’s your round-up of the highlights:

Festive Celebrations & Seasonal Spirit

The festive season took centre stage across the village. People enjoyed the build-up to Christmas, local decorations brightened streets, and festive reflections featured in December’s Kempsey Times, reminding us all to enjoy what matters most – family, friends, and community. Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and a successful New Year was a core message in the issue.

While everyone hoped for a picture-perfect white Christmas, weather forecasts indicated mostly dry and chilly conditions with very slim chances of snow on the ground in Kempsey or Worcester itself.

Community Café Progress

One of the biggest stories of the month was the exciting progress toward a permanent community café at the Plovers Rise Sports Pavilion. After a hugely successful pop-up pilot – bringing neighbours together over coffee, cake and conversation – Kempsey Parish Council unanimously backed the community-led vision for a welcoming, weekly café space. Volunteers, founding members, and local contributors all played a part in making this a highlight of the winter season.

Parish Council & Local Efforts

December brought action as Kempsey Parish Councillors and volunteers teamed up to tackle dumped rubbish at Pixham Ferry Lane, showcasing community spirit and civic pride in keeping public spaces clean and safe.

Across local council updates in Kempsey Times, councillors also reflected on county-level achievements – including a new initiative that could allow veterans to ride local buses free from April 2026 – a move applauded by many for improving accessibility for those who served.

Clubs, Groups & Social Life

Local social groups stayed busy this winter:

  • The Music Society continued its fortnightly gatherings, welcoming people of all ages for music, tea and conversation.
  • Upton’s library expanded its offerings with Scrabble sessions and family-friendly events to keep minds active over the holidays.

Looking Ahead: NYE in Kempsey

Before the year closed, locals were already planning how to see in 2026. Village pubs – like The Anchor Inn, The Crown Inn, and The Talbot – were highlighted as great spots for a friendly, festive New Year’s Eve celebration, while nearby Worcester and Malvern offered options for those seeking a bigger night out.

Final Thoughts

December in Kempsey was a blend of cozy winter camaraderie, constructive community action, and creative local energy. From café plans to festive reflections, the village showed once again what makes it special: people pulling together, celebrating together, and building for the year ahead
