The Walter de Cantelupe sale appears to enter final stages

After more than a year closed and largely silent, there are signs that the long-awaited sale of the Walter de Cantelupe could finally be nearing completion.

The pub, which shut its doors over a year ago, has been marketed for some time. However, its property listing has now been removed, and viewings were stopped late last year – strong indicators that the site is under offer and progressing through the final stages of a sale.

As we’ve covered in previous posts, the lack of activity around the building has been a regular talking point locally, with many residents keen to see the site brought back into use rather than left dormant at the heart of the village. While no official announcement has yet been made, the removal of the listing is typically one of the final steps before contracts are exchanged.

At this stage, details around the buyer, intended use, or reopening timescales haven’t been confirmed. However, the shift from “for sale” to “under offer” is the clearest sign yet that progress is being made behind the scenes.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on developments and update Kempsey.co.uk as soon as anything is formally confirmed. As ever, if you’ve heard anything reliable – or spot visible changes on site – feel free to get in touch.

For now, it appears that after a long period of uncertainty, the Walter de Cantelupe may finally be edging towards its next chapter.

Watch this space. 🍻
