The Kempsey Parish Council is facing criticism for its lack of progress in delivering promised community and sports facilities, village improvements, and overall lack of efficiency in spending public funds.
Despite already paying over £55K per year for current staff members and a community builder, the council is looking to hire a deputy clerk for an additional £29K, when that money could be better allocated elsewhere in the village.
Public meetings are poorly attended due to lack of advertising, public notice boards are not maintained, and issues such as overgrown bushes and lack of maintenance in public buildings are being neglected.
The current chair, Chris Waller, and planning committee are resistant to village growth, and the council seems outdated in addressing the needs of a growing community.
With no summer holiday offerings for children and a lack of progress since a public consultation in February, residents are questioning whether it’s time for a new council to champion growth, development, and better services for the village.
It’s time to demand more accountability and effectiveness in how public funds are being utilised for the benefit of the community.
