Residents on the Pear Tree Fields estate near Kempsey are feeling like they are living on an “isolated island” as they continue to face delays in receiving their mail.
Despite Royal Mail claiming to deliver to the estate daily, residents like Peter Moore have been experiencing issues with receiving their post since the estate was built three years ago.
Mr Moore shared that the situation has only gotten worse, with residents going from receiving no mail to suddenly getting two weeks’ worth of letters in just two months. He expressed frustration at feeling isolated from the rest of the community due to the lack of reliable mail delivery.
According to Mr Moore, a Royal Mail worker informed him that the estate had not been added to the mailing route, and workers rely on overtime to ensure the estate receives its mail. This has resulted in important documents, like hospital appointment letters, likely arriving late and causing unnecessary stress for residents.
The uncertainty of missing important mail, such as fines or other official correspondence, has added to the frustration felt by residents. Mr Moore emphasized the need for a sustainable solution rather than a temporary fix for the ongoing mail delivery issues.
Royal Mail assured customers that they are working to resolve any delays in delivery routes, and encouraged residents to reach out directly if they continue to experience problems with their mail.
Despite the challenges faced by residents of Pear Tree Fields, they are hopeful that a more reliable mail service will be established in the near future.
