Strawberry Shortcake Recipe
Ingredients:

Cake:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder

3 eggs, separated

Preparation:

Cake:
Preheat oven to 350Β°F (180Β°C). Butter and line a springform pan.
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
Beat remaining sugar, butter, egg yolks, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Fold in meringue, pour into pan, and bake for 55 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
Vanilla Strawberries:
Scrape seeds from vanilla bean. Mix strawberries with sugar and vanilla seeds. Let macerate, then drain.
