Kempsey Eco Business Park will provide ‘jobs boost’

Work is well underway on Kempsey Eco Business Park and the first businesses are expected to move in before Christmas.

The two-and-a-half acre park, off the A38 just south of the village, will feature a mix of office, retail and light industrial units, as well as a farm shop.

Roadworks have started as a new safer HGV and car entrance onto the park is being created.

County councillor Martin Allen visited the site to meet marketing and operations manager Alice Forbes.

She said there has been a lot of enquiries from local businesses and residents interested in renting a unit.

The eco park will be heated using renewable clean biomass energy produced on-site and all units will have photovoltaic panels producing electricity. There will be vehicle charging points and “high-performance insulation materials” should reduce energy consumption and save running costs for tenants.

“This is wonderful news for Kempsey, we need more local employment,” said Cllr Allen.

“The site is easily accessible by foot and by bike, and with the fantastic Worcestershire On Demand bus service, plus commercial buses both playing their part, the site will be fully accessible.

“I understand that there may soon be businesses moving in, such as a dentists, theatre academy, landscaping company and others.

“Local employment for local people is definitely the way forward. The site was previously a commercial small garden nursery with a small shop, and I am delighted to see that the site has not been left to go to ruin and waste and has instead been put to good use.”

The business park’s website said its office space units will benefit from underfloor heating, powered by biomass energy produced on-site using wood chips from local tree surgeons.

Park bosses said they were excited to be coming to Kempsey and to bring jobs to the local economy.
