Angry residents of Kempsey made their feelings known as they lined up along the A38 road to protest about 140 home development which includes a new primary school to be built on Land At (Os 8570 4841) Napleton Lane Kempsey.
Today Malvern Hills District Council have denied the planning permission, today 9th February 2024.
I am writing to let you know the outcome of your Planning application, under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 for the proposal detailed above at Land At (Os 8570 4841), Napleton Lane, Kempsey
Unfortunately we have Refused your application, for the reason set out in the attached Refusal Notice.
There has been a large outcry from villagers who said there are no infrastructure improvements to help the village cope with so many new homes, and no funding to actually build a school, which would run into the millions of pounds.
Hallam Land Management previous plan to build 150 new homes was rejected by Malvern Hills District Council.

In the last 6/7 years there has been a large number of houses built in Kempsey and the locals at the time objected, unsuccessfully. I wonder how many of those “locals” now objecting to the latest batch of new housing, live in the houses previously objected to by the original residents. What goes around comes around
140!! What about Wychavon’s approval of 20000 under the South Worcestershire Development Plan effectively destroying Pershore and surrounding villages. And, yes , why aren’t Malvern Hills and Worcester City Councils taking more than 20% between them? Power Crazed Wychavon
Don’t know of one new build owner complaining about the ridiculous South Worcestershire Development Plan. It’s all on Green Belt and will destroy Pershore , villages and long standing communities.
I bet half of these NIMBYS live in Centurion Drive or Mercia Way. They don’t mind living in newly built houses but how dare anyone else that wants to. Hypocrites of the finest order…
