An on-demand bus service in Worcestershire has expanded because of growing popularity and is available in Kempsey.

The service, launched last year in the Malvern Hills district, provides a service based on demand rather than using fixed routes and timetables.

The buses offer a service for areas including Upton upon Severn, Kempsey, Hanley Swan, Hanley Castle, Longdon, Bushley and Welland.

A similar service was piloted in Bromsgrove in 2021 which, according to Worcestershire County Council, “wildly exceeded expectations”.

It is now possible to travel to local places, such as Malvern Hospital, Malvern Railway Station and Malvern Retail Park. Passengers can also travel further afield, to places like Worcestershire Parkway Station, Worcester Countryside Centre and Tewkesbury town centre.

Passengers, who share journeys, are then collected quickly and within a few metres of their location.

The buses run from 07:00 to 19:00 GMT, Monday to Saturday.  There’s a flat fare of £2.50 for journeys per person, with additional passengers paying £1.25.
