We’re a village of dog lovers, but over the recent weeks the number of people contacting our news desk about dog owners not cleaning up after their fur babies has risen 60%.

As the weather gets better more and more people are out with their beloved pets, on a recent walk about the village we counted 15 piles of poop not picked up on foot paths, we also witnessed dog owners not picking up after their dogs.

As a reminder to the un-educated. Dog waste can carry parasites such as ringworms, salmonella and tapeworms, which in some cases can cause blindness. Additionally, dog waste contains E. Coli and other harmful bacteria.

Anyone who fails to clear up after their dog can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice of up to £100. If the case goes to court this could cost the owner or person in charge of the animal up to £1,000.

Please keep the village clean and tidy, pickup after your pooch and keep our areas safe for all.
