Well, well, well – looks like the winds of change have properly blown through Worcestershire County Council. For the first time in two whole decades, the Tories have lost their grip on the wheel. That’s right, after 20 years of blue rule, it’s now officially a free-for-all at County Hall.
No party has overall control – which basically means no one’s got the keys to the castle without asking someone else first.
Reform came storming in like they’d just necked a double espresso, bagging 27 seats and becoming the biggest party in the room. But… they’re still two short of a majority, so it’s coalition time or bust. Good luck to whoever’s in charge of group chats.
As for the Tories? Oof. Just 12 seats left, and their leader, Simon Geraghty, got ousted by the Greens. You’ve got to admit, that’s a bit of a plot twist.
Here’s how the final scoreboard looks:
- Reform: 27
- Conservatives: 12
- Green: 8
- Lib Dems: 6
- Labour: 2
- Independents: 2
So, what now? Deals, pacts, polite backroom nods over tea? Probably. Either way, the council’s about to get a lot more interesting – and we’ve got front-row seats (from a field, with a dog, preferably).
Politics may be a circus – but at least this one comes without parking fees.
