Celebrating a Legend from the Pond to the World Stage
It’s not easy being green – but somehow, Kermit the Frog has made it look effortless for 70 wonderful years! That’s right – our favourite banjo-playing, wise-cracking, show-running amphibian turns the big 7-0 this year, and here at Kempsey.co.uk, we couldn’t let that pass without a little birthday cheer.
First appearing in 1955 (yes, really!), Kermit quickly hopped into hearts around the globe thanks to his wit, warmth, and occasional dramatic flailing. From Sesame Street to The Muppet Show, from The Muppet Movie to Christmas Carol (a festive classic in many Kempsey households!), Kermit’s message has always been one of kindness, curiosity, and a little bit of controlled chaos.
We reckon he’d feel right at home in Kempsey – after all, we’ve got plenty of countryside, a river, a community full of characters, and an appreciation for anyone who can hold things together with a smile and a song.
So here’s to you, Kermit – for seven decades of laughter, leadership, and unforgettable one-liners. May your lily pad be ever comfortable, your tea ever hot, and your Muppets only mildly unmanageable.
