Will Kempsey, Worcester Get a White Christmas in 2025?

With Christmas just around the corner and everyone dreaming of frost-tipped rooftops and festive snow, many in Kempsey and the wider Worcester area are asking the same question: Will we get a white Christmas this year?

What the Forecast Says

According to the latest UK forecast for the Worcester area, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are expected to be mostly dry, chilly and settled with variable cloud and some sunny spells. Temperatures look cold for late December with daytime highs around 5–6°C and night-time lows dipping close to freezing.

That means actual snow – where it flakes and sticks to the ground – is not in the main forecast for Christmas Day. Instead:

  • Christmas Eve (24th Dec) – Dry with periods of cloud and sun, chilly with brisk winds.
  • Christmas Day (25th Dec) – Mostly dry and bright, not cold enough for snow in the forecast model, though it will feel crisp.
  • Boxing Day (26th Dec) – Continuing settled, cold weather with sunny breaks.

Overall, the Met Office long-range outlook suggests high-pressure weather dominating much of the UK over Christmas, bringing dry and cold conditions rather than snowy ones.

What Counts as a “White Christmas”?

In the UK, a white Christmas doesn’t necessarily mean deep snow on the ground. Officially, it simply requires at least one snowflake to be observed falling at any UK weather station during the 24 hours of 25 December.

However, the kind of picture-postcard white Christmas most people imagine – snow covering the ground – is much rarer in this part of the country, especially in recent decades as milder Decembers have become more common due to climate trends.

Odds for Kempsey and Worcester

At the moment, specialist snow-probability models show virtually zero chance of measurable snowfall in Worcestershire on Christmas Day. In other words: snow is not expected in the forecast data for Kempsey or Worcester this year.

National weather commentary supports this, with meteorologists describing the probability of snow as very low and largely confined to higher ground or isolated flurries far from the West Midlands.

Some forecasts (like Sky News) note there’s a small chance of isolated wintry flurries anywhere in the UK, but this is mainly focused on the far south or elevated areas, and even then it’s low confidence.

Could It Still Happen?

Yes – technically – even a single snowflake would count as a white Christmas in the official sense. But right now:

  • Forecast models don’t show snow falling in Worcestershire on 25th December.
  • Temperatures are cold but not low enough for snow in the main forecast.
  • Snow is more likely later in winter (January/February) than on Christmas Day itself.

So while we can’t completely rule out a stray flake somewhere in the UK, Kempsey’s chances of seeing snow fall, let alone settle, on Christmas Day are very slim.

What You  Will

Local weather this Christmas is expected to be:

  • Cold and dry, with frost possible overnight
  • Clearer skies at times, especially in the morning
  • A crisp, bright feel, ideal for outdoor walks and festive activities – just maybe without the snowmen.

Final Thoughts

If you’re hoping for a snowy Christmas here in Kempsey or Worcester – it’s looking unlikely this year. But with cold and clear weather, you’ll still get that festive winter feel, even if Jack Frost is the only one leaving his mark.

Keep an eye on the forecast in the coming days – snow predictions become more accurate within about 5–7 days of Christmas – but for now, it’s looking like a classic cool, dry UK Christmas, rather than a snowy wonderland.
