A Gentle Reminder: Please Stay Off the Daffodils

As we head towards spring, the first daffodils are starting to appear around the village – always a welcome sign that brighter days are on the way 🌱

This is just a friendly reminder to please stay off the daffodils and planted areas, even if it’s tempting to cut across grass verges or stop for a quick photo.

A Lot of Time, Care & Community Effort

What you see popping up now is the result of months (and often years) of planning, planting, and maintenance. Many of the bulbs around Kempsey are planted by volunteers and local groups who give up their own time to make the village look welcoming and well cared for.

Some of the newer planted areas, added last year, are now starting to show for the first time – which is always exciting, but also when they’re at their most vulnerable. Walking on them, parking on verges, or letting dogs run through can undo a lot of that hard work very quickly.

🌼 Why It Matters

  • Bulbs can be easily damaged before or during flowering
  • Compacted soil stops them coming back next year
  • Young planting areas need time to properly establish
  • Respecting them means better displays year after year

💛 Help Them Thrive

Please stick to paths where possible, avoid cutting corners across grassed areas, and help little ones understand why the flowers need space. If you spot damaged planting or areas that need attention, letting someone know can really help.

These small actions make a big difference – and with a bit of care now, we’ll all get to enjoy a much brighter, fuller display in the weeks ahead.

Thank you for helping keep Kempsey looking its best 🌼
