Bank Holiday Plans? Gandies Says “Hold My Cocktail…”

ust when you thought your May Bank Holiday was going to involve mowing the lawn, battling a DIY project you’ve been avoiding since 2024, or making the annual pilgrimage to B&Q, Kempsey’s newest café has stepped in with a much better idea.

Gandies is bringing live music, cocktails, food and good vibes to the village as part of a special Bank Holiday event.

The event promises an afternoon and evening of entertainment, giving locals the perfect excuse to avoid washing the car, ignore the garden, and tell family members they’re “supporting a local business” while enjoying a cocktail or two.

Since opening its doors earlier this year, Gandies has quickly become a popular addition to Kempsey’s growing food and drink scene.

With live music on the menu alongside refreshments and a relaxed atmosphere, organisers are hoping residents will come along and make the most of the long weekend.

Of course, this is Britain, so the weather forecast remains somewhere between “glorious sunshine” and “build an ark immediately.” Either way, a good drink and live music usually improve matters.

One thing’s for certain: it’s got to be more exciting than arguing over whose turn it is to clean the barbecue.
