No? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! It might just be one of the village’s best-kept secrets… partly because it’s only open on Fridays! 😄
Located at the Sports Pavilion on Plovers Rise, the Community Café was created to bring people together, reduce loneliness, and provide a welcoming space where residents can enjoy a coffee, a slice of cake and a good old-fashioned chat.
Funded by Malvern Hills District Council, Kempsey Parish Council and UK Government community funding, the café has transformed an underused building into a welcoming community hub for the village.
And there’s clearly demand for it. During the original pilot project, 308 residents visited over just four Fridays, with many returning week after week for coffee, cake and conversation.
Whether you’re:
In need of a decent coffee
Partial to a slice of cake
Fancy a catch-up with friends
Looking for a quiet spot to relax
Wanting to meet more people from around the village
…the Community Café is there for you.
The only catch? If you turn up on a Tuesday, you’ll be talking to a locked door. 😂
The café currently opens on Fridays, so if you’ve been meaning to visit, make sure you don’t leave it until Saturday!
Let’s be honest, village life isn’t just about roadworks, planning applications and guessing what Taylor Wimpey are doing this week. Sometimes it’s about sitting down with neighbours over a coffee and putting the world to rights.

Fun fact: Since 2014, every major parish consultation has identified a café as one of the most requested facilities in Kempsey. It turns out what villagers really wanted all along was somewhere to drink coffee and solve the world’s problems.
