It feels like only yesterday we were looking forward to long summer evenings, outdoor events and festival weekends, but there are already signs around Kempsey that another summer is beginning to draw to a close.
The evenings are getting noticeably shorter, temperatures are starting to feel a little cooler and the first leaves around the village are beginning to turn shades of orange and brown.
The August Bank Holiday weekend has also brought another milestone in the local calendar, with Sunshine Festival coming to an end today following another busy weekend of music and entertainment just down the road in Upton-upon-Severn.
For many, Sunshine marks one of the final big weekends of the local summer festival season. After months of outdoor events, music, camping, food, drink and hopefully more sunshine than rain, the festival tents are gradually starting to come down for another year.
Back in Kempsey, there are plenty of other little reminders that autumn isn’t far away.
Gardens are beginning to change, leaves are appearing on pavements, mornings are becoming a little fresher and those evenings sitting outside are starting to require an extra layer.
September arrives tomorrow, and while that certainly doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of the warm weather, the change of season is definitely beginning to make itself known.
But the end of summer doesn’t mean things are going quiet in Kempsey.
There is plenty happening over the coming months, with Halloween, fireworks, Christmas and a number of other local events on the way.
