Parents and carers in Kempsey are being encouraged to take a quick look over play equipment before allowing children to use it, following reports of broken glass being discovered at play areas elsewhere in Worcestershire.
The warning follows reports from Warndon Villages in Worcester, where parents have been checking slides and other equipment after broken glass was reportedly found around children’s play areas.
While we are not aware of any similar incidents in Kempsey, it serves as a useful reminder for parents and carers to give play equipment a quick check before children use it.
In particular, we’d encourage anyone visiting the play areas at Plovers Rise and Lygon Green to have a quick look around.
Check slides, climbing equipment, swings and the ground immediately surrounding them for broken glass, sharp objects or anything else that could cause an injury.
It only takes a few seconds, but particularly with younger children who may run straight towards the equipment, it’s a sensible precaution.

If you notice broken glass, damaged equipment or anything potentially dangerous at one of Kempsey’s play areas, please prevent children from using the affected equipment and report it to the appropriate authority as soon as possible.
If it’s safe to do so, warning other parents and carers at the park can also help prevent an accident while the problem is being dealt with.
Again, there are currently no reports we’re aware of suggesting this is happening in Kempsey – we’re sharing this simply as a precaution following the incidents reported elsewhere in Worcestershire.
