Massive turnout in Kempsey as residents rally over planning appeal

Kempsey residents turned out in force at Bannut Hill this morning, showing just how strongly the community feels about the latest planning battle facing the village.

A large number of residents gathered to show their support and call on Malvern Hills District Council (MHDC) to ensure the village is properly represented at an upcoming planning appeal hearing, due to take place on 8 September.

Those involved are calling on MHDC to appoint a suitably qualified planning barrister to represent the council and robustly defend its position at the appeal.

The turnout at Bannut Hill demonstrated the strength of feeling locally, with residents concerned about the potential impact of further development and determined to make sure Kempsey’s voice is heard.

Organisers thanked everyone who gave up their Saturday morning to attend and show their support.

The message from those gathered was clear: residents want MHDC to give the appeal the attention and professional representation they believe it deserves.

For a village like Kempsey, decisions surrounding major development can have long-term consequences for local roads, infrastructure, schools, services and the character of the community itself.

Today’s turnout showed that residents are paying attention – and they’re prepared to stand together when it comes to the future of their village.

Kempsey.co.uk will continue to follow the planning appeal ahead of the hearing on 8 September and bring residents the latest developments.
